Macerata Opera Festival: Sferisterio

The 62nd edition of one of Italy’s great open-air opera festivals, held in Macerata’s extraordinary neoclassical arena. This year: Verdi’s Nabucco (new production), Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Verdi’s Il Trovatore, and Orff’s Carmina Burana as a special event on 7 August. The Sferisterio’s shallow, ultra-wide stage and natural acoustics make this one of the most atmospheric venues in Europe.
